How do you place teams in competitive divisions? |
CAN/AM has been running adult tournaments for over 20 years, and we are proud to have a high number of return teams year in and year out. This core group of teams also helps provide a framework for placing teams competitively. To place teams, we ask all teams to submit a description of their team, the ages of each player, and a CAN/AM Player Placement (CAPP) number for each player. The CAPP number helps us determine the overall strength of a team. Once we have this info, we use our return teams that we know are competitive to build divisions. We fill in these divisions with the teams that are statistically the most similar based on age and CAPP numbers while fine tuning using the team’s description and geographical area. This process, created and continually improved over the years gives CAN/AM Adult Tournaments a huge edge in providing competitive divisions for all of our participating teams. |
How do you determine a team’s age group? |
We take the average age of all players to determine a team’s age group. This gives teams the flexibility to have younger and older players without being penalized. There is a lower limit, however. In order to maintain integrity in our older divisions, a team cannot have a player more than 10 years younger than your team’s average age. Thus, if your team average age is 40, you cannot have anyone younger than 30 playing for you. |
