This Local Team Fee is for teams that live within 60 miles of the tournament location. Rates are in US funds and are tax inclusive.

As a condition of acceptance, all out of town teams more than 60 miles from Lake Tahoe must reserve rooms and stay at one of our authorized hotels. Your families will conveniently make and pay for their hotel reservations right on the CAN/AM Hockey website.

Tournament Info

Get ready for an unforgettable experience at the CAN/AM Challenge Cup in stunning Lake Tahoe! Your ultimate Tournament adventure is about to begin, and we’re here to make it seamless. To help you plan the best weekend ever, we want to give you a preview of what’s to come in both the Tournament and the beautiful Lake Tahoe area. You focus on having an incredible hockey weekend, while we handle the rest!

The Tournament headquarters will be located in the lobby of the South Lake Tahoe Ice Arena, where you’ll find posted standings, locker room assignments, souvenirs, and friendly CAN/AM staff. This is also where your Team Rep will check in before your first game and receive additional tournament instructions, along with special player souvenirs for each participant.

All games will be held at the South Lake Tahoe Ice Arena and Tahoe Blue Event Center. Your game schedule will be available about a week before the Tournament. Teams are guaranteed four games, with play beginning Friday at 8:00 AM. After round-robin play, the top four teams in each division will advance to the Sunday Medal Championship games. By Saturday night, the matchups will be set—will your team make it to the Medal Games on Sunday morning? The Gold, Silver, and Bronze Medal Games will conclude by late afternoon on Sunday.

In every division, players will receive Gold, Silver, and Bronze CAN/AM Championship medals. Gold Medal winning teams will also take home a special Challenge Cup Championship plaque and a first-place CAN/AM banner to display in their home arena.

Throughout the weekend, the CAN/AM Staff will be readily available to assist you, providing guidance, answering questions, and offering suggestions. Our mission is to help you make the most of this special hockey weekend. Win or lose, we’re committed to delivering an unparalleled hockey experience for your team. The Challenge Cup is a professional event designed for amateur players, and we can’t wait to host your team in Lake Tahoe!

Tournament Sanctioning

The Challenge Cup is a USA Hockey sanctioned tournament. USA Hockey rules will be followed with additional CAN/AM tournament rules. Once you register, a copy of the CAN/AM rules will be available for review. US teams must provide a signed Official USA Hockey Roster 60 days prior to the tournament (some states also require a Travel Permit). Canadian teams must submit the required Travel Permit and Official Hockey Roster issued by their governing body (i.e. GTHL, OMHA, Hockey Quebec, etc). No team will be allowed to participate in the tournament without submitting this information.
