This Local Team Fee is for teams that live within 60 miles of the tournament location. Rates are in US funds and are tax inclusive.

As a condition of acceptance, all out of town teams more than 60 miles from Ann Arbor must reserve rooms and stay at one of our authorized hotels. Your families will conveniently make and pay for their hotel reservations right on the CAN/AM Hockey website.

Tournament Info

Get ready for the ultimate hockey experience at the CAN/AM Challenge Cup in the vibrant city of Ann Arbor, Michigan! Your tournament adventure is about to kick off, and we're here to make sure everything runs smoothly so you can focus on enjoying the best hockey weekend ever. Here's a quick guide on what to expect, both at the tournament and in Ann Arbor.

The Tournament headquarters will be set up in the lobby of the Arctic Coliseum, where you can find standings, locker room assignments, souvenirs, and photos. Our friendly CAN/AM staff will be there to assist you. Your Team Rep will also check in at Tournament Central before your first game, receiving tournament details and special souvenirs for each player.

Games will be held at Arctic Coliseum, and you’ll get your game schedule about a week before the tournament begins. Each team is guaranteed 4 games, starting on Friday at 8:00 AM. Once the round-robin matches are complete, the top four teams in each division will advance to the Sunday Medal Championship games. Medal matchups will be finalized by Saturday night, so get ready to battle for a spot in the Gold, Silver, or Bronze Medal Games on Sunday afternoon.

Gold, Silver, and Bronze CAN/AM Championship medals will be awarded to each player in every division. Gold Medal teams will also receive a special Challenge Cup plaque and a Gold Medal CAN/AM banner to hang in their home arena.

Throughout the weekend, the CAN/AM staff will be available to guide you, answer questions, offer suggestions, and make sure both players and families have everything they need. Our goal is to provide an unmatched experience, both on and off the ice. That's why so many teams choose to make the CAN/AM Challenge Cup an annual tradition. We can’t wait to welcome your team to Ann Arbor!

Tournament Sanctioning

The Challenge Cup is a USA Hockey sanctioned tournament. USA Hockey rules will be followed with additional CAN/AM tournament rules. Once you register, a copy of the CAN/AM rules will be available for review. US teams must provide a signed Official USA Hockey Roster 60 days prior to the tournament (some states also require a Travel Permit). Canadian teams must submit the required Travel Permit and Official Hockey Roster issued by their governing body (i.e. GTHL, OMHA, Hockey Quebec, etc). No team will be allowed to participate in the tournament without submitting this information.
