This Local Team Fee is for teams that live within 60 miles of the tournament location. Rates are in US funds and are tax inclusive.

As a condition of acceptance, all out of town teams more than 60 miles from Washington DC must reserve rooms and stay at one of our authorized hotels. Your families will conveniently make and pay for their hotel reservations right on the CAN/AM Hockey website.

Tournament Info

Tournament Headquarters will be conveniently located in the lobby of the Gardens Ice House in Laurel, MD. Here, you’ll find posted standings, locker room assignments, souvenirs, and our friendly CAN/AM staff. Tournament Central is where your Team Rep will check in before the first game, receiving essential tournament instructions and special souvenirs for each player.

Games will take place at The Gardens Ice House. Your game schedule will be available one week before the tournament begins. Each team is guaranteed four exciting games. The action kicks off on Saturday at 8:00 AM, and after the round-robin games, the top four teams in each division will advance to the Monday Medal Championship games. By Sunday evening, the medal matchups will be set. Will your team make it to the Medal Games on Monday morning? The Gold, Silver, and Bronze Medal Games will wrap up by late afternoon.

In all divisions, CAN/AM Championship medals will be awarded to players on the Gold, Silver, and Bronze-winning teams. Gold Medal teams will also receive a special Challenge Cup plaque and a Gold Medal CAN/AM banner to proudly display in their home arena.

Throughout the weekend, our dedicated CAN/AM staff will be available to guide you, answer questions, offer recommendations, and assist players and guests. We’re here to make sure you have the best possible experience, both on and off the ice. Our mission is to provide an unmatched hockey experience for every team. The Challenge Cup is a professional event for amateur players, which is why so many teams return year after year. We can’t wait to host your team in Washington, DC!

Tournament Sanctioning

The Challenge Cup is a USA Hockey sanctioned tournament. USA Hockey rules will be followed with additional CAN/AM tournament rules. Once you register, a copy of the CAN/AM rules will be available for review. US teams must provide a signed Official USA Hockey Roster 60 days prior to the tournament (some states also require a Travel Permit). Canadian teams must submit the required Travel Permit and Official Hockey Roster issued by their governing body (i.e. GTHL, OMHA, Hockey Quebec, etc). No team will be allowed to participate in the tournament without submitting this information.
