This Local Team Fee is for teams that live within 60 miles of the tournament location. Rates are in US funds and are tax inclusive.

As a condition of acceptance, all out of town teams more than 60 miles from Shelton must reserve rooms and stay at one of our authorized hotels. Your families will conveniently make and pay for their hotel reservations right on the CAN/AM Hockey website.

Tournament Info

Welcome to the CAN/AM Challenge Cup in Shelton, Connecticut! Get ready for the ultimate tournament experience. We’ve got all the planning covered so you can focus on making memories and enjoying a weekend of hockey!

Tournament headquarters will be located in the lobby of The Rinks at Shelton, where you’ll find standings, locker room assignments, souvenirs, photos, and of course, the friendly CAN/AM staff. Tournament Central is where your Team Rep will check in and receive tournament instructions, as well as special player souvenirs.

Games will be played at The Rinks at Shelton, Wonderland of Ice Arena, and other local rinks. The game schedule will be available about one week before the tournament. All teams are guaranteed four games, with the first games starting on Friday at 7:30 AM. After the round-robin play, the top four teams in each division will move on to the Sunday Medal Championship games. By Saturday night, the medal matchups will be set. Will your team have what it takes to compete for a medal? The Gold, Silver, and Bronze Medal Games will be concluded by Sunday afternoon.

Gold, Silver, and Bronze CAN/AM Championship medals will be awarded to each player in every division. Gold Medal teams will also receive a special Challenge Cup Championship plaque and a Gold Medal CAN/AM banner to hang in their home arena.

Throughout the weekend, the CAN/AM staff will be available to guide you, answer questions, provide suggestions, and assist players and guests. We're here to ensure you get the most out of this unforgettable hockey weekend. No matter the outcome on the ice, our goal is to deliver an unmatched experience for your team. The Challenge Cup is a premier event for amateur players, which is why so many teams make the CAN/AM a yearly tradition. We look forward to hosting your team in Connecticut!

Tournament Sanctioning

The Challenge Cup is a USA Hockey sanctioned tournament. USA Hockey rules will be followed with additional CAN/AM tournament rules. Once you register, a copy of the CAN/AM rules will be available for review. US teams must provide a signed Official USA Hockey Roster 60 days prior to the tournament (some states also require a Travel Permit). Canadian teams must submit the required Travel Permit and Official Hockey Roster issued by their governing body (i.e. GTHL, OMHA, Hockey Quebec, etc). No team will be allowed to participate in the tournament without submitting this information.
